September 2011

The Metaphysical Learning Center opened in Silver Spring, Maryland as an educational arm of the Washington Metaphysical Church

June 2014

The Metaphysical Learning Center closed when the facilitators relocated to North Carolina with plans to start a new center in the mountains

December 2014

A weekly healing meditation began on Monday afternoons in a private residence near Sylva

June 2015

The building at 894 East Main Street became available

October 2015

The Meditation Center was officially chartered as a study group with the United Metaphysical Churches in Roanoke, Virginia

December 2015

After getting lots of volunteer help to remodel the space, The Meditation Center opened its doors to the public

January 2016

The Meditation Center became a member of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce

August 2016

The Meditation Center began teaching monthly meditation classes at the Jackson County Senior Center

September 2019

The NC Department of Transportation informed The Meditation Center that the property would be lost to eminent domain for a major road project

March 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic forced The Meditation Center to maintain limited hours, with no in-person classes. Weekly classes were offered on Zoom, supplemented by recorded meditations and lessons

October 2020

The Meditation Center launched its updated website

July 2021

After 15 months of pandemic restrictions, we returned to in-person classes. Good to see you again!

2022

Delays in the NC 107 road construction project allowed us to stay in our East Main Street location a few years longer

July 2023

After nearly eight years on East Main Street, The Meditation Center vacated the building to make room for road safety improvements

August 2023

Classes began at a temporary location hosted by the Webster Methodist Church as we work on manifesting a permanent meeting location

November 2023

The Meditation Center reopened in new space, not far from our old location, in a quiet oasis just off of East Main Street

June 2025

The Meditation Center’s last in-person class is held June 10, with all classes now offered online.
