COVID-19 Statement

We are open on Monday afternoons for silent meditation and bookstore purchases, supplemented by online content until such a time that we can safely reopen for in-person classes. Please review our COVID-19 precautions before visiting. Our complete schedule can be found on the Classes and Calendar pages of our website. As always, we are available by appointment for specific individual needs. Receive reminders by signing up for e-mail updates. Thank you for your support during these unusual times.

Hours

The Meditation Center follows this general schedule. Please keep in mind that the schedule is subject to change, depending on specific monthly activities. Check our calendar regularly, and join our mailing list to keep abreast of our current class schedule.

Open Meditation 12:00 to 5:00 pm (except 5th Monday*)
We are open for silent meditation and bookstore purchases only. Please read our safety requirements before visiting.
Tuesday
At-home Healing Meditation 7:00 to 7:30 pm (except 5th Tuesday*)
Join with us in spirit from wherever you are to share thoughts and energies of healing wherever they are needed. Meditation ideas are posted each week on our Meditations page.
Wednesday – Friday
Special classes as scheduled, otherwise closed.
Saturday
Saturday Discussion and Meditation
On Zoom 11:00 am to 12:00 noon (except 5th Saturday*)

Sunday
Third Sunday of each month: Metaphysical Lecture
A new lecture is posted each month on our News page by 10:00 am.
Other Sundays: closed.

*The Meditation Center is closed on the 29th, 30th and 31st of each month (5th Monday, etc.) and on major federal holidays unless otherwise announced.

Weather-related closures: As a general rule, The Meditation Center follows the Jackson County Public Schools (Smoky Mountain District) for weather-related closures, however, there may be exceptions. Unplanned closures are posted on this website, on Facebook and by email.

Road Construction Alert: The Scotts Creek bridge on Business US 23 between Dillsboro and Sylva (Haywood Road) is closed for approximately 9 months beginning July 7, 2020. If you travel on this road, please see alternate directions below.

We are located at 894 E. Main Street (NC 107) in Sylva, NC about 910 of a mile south of Asheville Hwy, across from Auto Zone.

Westbound from Waynesville, Canton and Asheville:
  • Take I-40/US 74 West from Asheville.
  • At exit 27, take US 74 West (Great Smoky Mountains Expressway) toward Clyde/Waynesville.
  • Continue on US 74 West/US 23 South about 17 miles.
  • Take Exit 85 (Business US 23 to NC 107) toward E. Sylva/Western Carolina University.
  • Continue about a mile on Business US 23 (Asheville Hwy.) to the end of the road.
  • Turn left on East Main Street (NC 107) and continue 910 of a mile to The Meditation Center on the right.
Northbound from Franklin and Georgia:

Temporary directions due to closure of Business US 23 between Dillsboro and Sylva beginning July 7, 2020.

Recommended Route:

  • Take US 23/441 North into Jackson County.
  • Turn right onto NC 116 (Webster Road).
  • Follow NC 116 (left turn) over the Tuckaseigee River and through Webster.
  • At the end of NC 116, turn left onto NC 107.
  • Follow NC 107 north past Walmart Plaza. As you come down the hill, the road will curve to the left and you will see Auto Zone on the right. The Meditation Center is on the left, across from Auto Zone.

Alternate Route:

  • From US 23/441 North, continue past Dillsboro. Follow the right lane onto US 74 East/US 23 North (Great Smoky Mountain Expressway) toward Waynesville and Asheville.
  • Take Exit 83 – Sylva.
  • At the second light, turn left on West Main Street (Business US 23 North), and continue west through downtown Sylva.
  • At Asheville Hwy., East Main Street continues onto NC 107 (Bogart’s restaurant on left).
  • Continue 910 mile on NC 107 to The Meditation Center on the right.
Northbound from Webster, Cullowhee, Glenville, or Cashiers:

Follow NC 107 north past Walmart Plaza in Sylva. As you come down the hill, the road will curve to the left, and you will see Auto Zone on the right. The Meditation Center is on the left, across from Auto Zone.

Southbound from Whittier, Cherokee and Gatlinburg:

Temporary directions due to closure of Business US 23 between Dillsboro and Sylva beginning July 7, 2020.

Recommended Route:

  • From US 441 South/74 East, continue on the Great Smoky Mountain Expressway (US 74 East/23 North) past Dillsboro.
  • Take Exit 83 – Sylva.
  • At the second light, turn left on West Main Street (Business US 23 North), and continue west through downtown Sylva.
  • At Asheville Hwy., East Main Street continues onto NC 107 (Bogart’s restaurant on left).
  • Continue 910 mile on NC 107 to The Meditation Center on the right.
Eastbound from Bryson City and Andrews:

Follow US 74 East toward Dillsboro. Continue with directions from Cherokee above. (Please note modified directions due to road construction beginning July 7, 2020.)

From Maggie Valley:

Take US 19 North to US 276 South and follow directions from Waynesville above, or take US 19 South to US 441 South and follow directions from Cherokee above. (Please note modified directions due to road construction beginning July 7, 2020.)

From Highlands:

Take US 64 West to US 23/441 North and follow directions from Franklin above, or take US 64 East to NC 107 North and follow directions from Cashiers above.
